Best weapons this season, by time to kill

How this is ranked: body-shot time to remove 200 (100 health + 100 shield) at each weapon’s best rarity, every shot landing at full damage, first shot at 0 s. It rewards burst damage and ignores accuracy, spread and range, so a shotgun’s place assumes you are close enough to land it. Only the weapons with full sourced stats are ranked.

Vaulted this season

Loot Hacks, and names we can’t confirm

Epic’s launch notes on 20 Aug 2026 also unvaulted the Minigun, Dual Pistols, Oni Shotgun and Flare Gun. The Fortnite Wiki’s season page describes the Minigun and Flare Gun as Loot Hack items, which you add to a personal pool with Sprite Dust instead of finding them in standard chests. Epic has refreshed the Loot Hack lineup in each update since, and none of its later notes names these four again, so we treat them as out of the pool.

The Loot Hack weapons Epic added in v42.40 (15 Oct 2026) are the Thorne's Vampiric Blade, Finger Guns, Gatekeeper Shotgun and Hunting Rifle. They only drop for players who hack them in, so they aren’t in the cards above.

Some stat trackers also list the Balloon Popper Assault Rifle, High Stakes' Shotgun, Overclocked 8-Bit Shotgun and Marker Bonerattler SMG. None of them is in Epic’s notes for this season or in the Fortnite Wiki’s current pool, so we don’t list them as confirmed; they get a card once a source we can cite names them. Healing items and other consumables aren’t covered on these pages yet.

Fortnite weapon questions

What weapons are in Fortnite right now?

As of 28 Oct 2026, Epic's update notes for Chapter 7 Season 4 put these weapons in the Battle Royale pool: Assault Rifle, Heavy Assault Rifle, Pump Shotgun, Wood Stake Shotgun, Tactical Pistol, Dual Fiend Hunters, 8-Bit Shotgun, Sweeper Shotgun, Rebecca's Guns, Bonerattler SMG, Mega Buster, Kingdom Key, Freddy's Nightmare and Overdrive Grenade, plus the Mythic and Exotic Overpowered Pump Shotgun, Enhanced Assault Rifle, Frantic Rebecca's Guns and Enhanced 8-Bit Shotgun. Drum Gun, Ranger Assault Rifle, Tetris Rift, Midas' Masterpiece and Witch Broom were vaulted during the season.

Are the Minigun, Dual Pistols, Oni Shotgun and Flare Gun still in Fortnite?

Epic unvaulted them in the Chapter 7 Season 4 launch update on 20 Aug 2026, but the Fortnite Wiki describes the Minigun and Flare Gun as Loot Hack items: you add them to a personal pool with Sprite Dust rather than finding them in standard chests. Epic has refreshed the Loot Hack lineup in each update since, and none of its later notes names the four again, so we treat them as out of the pool. The current Loot Hack weapons, from v42.40 (15 Oct 2026), are the Thorne's Vampiric Blade, Finger Guns, Gatekeeper Shotgun and Hunting Rifle.

What is the best weapon in Fortnite right now?

By our computed time to kill against 200 health and shield at each weapon's best rarity, with every shot landing: the Wood Stake Shotgun (2 body shots, 0.77 s), the Tactical Pistol (7 body shots, 0.87 s), the Assault Rifle (6 body shots, 0.91 s). That ignores accuracy, spread and range, and it only covers the weapons we have full sourced stats for.

When does the Fortnite loot pool change next?

Chapter 7 Season 4 began on 20 Aug 2026. The Fortnite Wiki lists 31 October 2026 as its last day, and Epic says Fortnitemares runs until 1 Nov. Weapons that returned for Fortnitemares may leave when it ends; Epic hasn't said which.

Where do these weapon stats come from?

Base stats come from the Fortnite Wiki's current stat tables (each page links the exact revision), and which weapons are in the pool comes from Epic's own update notes. Time to kill, DPS, rankings and falloff charts are our arithmetic on those numbers. Epic doesn't publish chest or floor-loot odds, so we don't print any.
