Time to kill
Computed by us from the damage, fire rate, magazine and reload figures above: every shot lands at full damage, the first shot is at 0 s, and a reload is added if the magazine runs dry. Real fights include misses, spread and falloff, so treat these as best cases.

How to use the Dual Fiend Hunters
The Dual Fiend Hunters are a pair of crossbows that came back with Fortnitemares on 1 October 2026. Unlike other crossbows they are hitscan, so there is no bolt drop or travel time to lead, and both fire on each trigger pull, as the Fortnite Wiki explains. They are built for monster hunting and deal double damage to Cube Monsters.
Against players they are middling. The wiki lists 28 to 34 damage a shot at 4 shots a second, which is 112 to 136 damage per second: below both rifles and the Tactical Pistol, though well above the Pump. A 2× headshot multiplier helps: a Legendary removes 200 health and shield with three headshots in 0.5 s by our maths, against six body hits in 1.25 s.
The 16-shot magazine lasts four seconds of steady fire and reloads take 2.61–3.19 s. The wiki's counters advice is to stay at medium range, where they become less effective, so treat them as a close-to-mid weapon. They have no first-shot accuracy, so pacing your shots doesn't tighten them the way it does a rifle.
They do almost nothing to builds: 5–6 structure damage a shot. In Build mode you will want a rifle or a pistol alongside them. In Zero Build, and during Fortnitemares' Cube Monster encounters, they earn their slot. Epic ran a Power Hours event on 3 October where everyone dropped in with them.
Where to find it
In the Chapter 7 Season 4 Battle Royale pool since v42.30 (1 Oct 2026): returned for fortnitemares 2026. Source: Fortnitemares 2026 Curses Battle Royale, Reload & More (v42.30, 1 Oct 2026).
Epic doesn’t publish chest, floor-loot or supply-drop odds, and we haven’t found a source we can cite for them, so this page gives none. Modes: we checked Epic’s Battle Royale notes only; Reload, Blitz and OG run their own pools.
What we left out, and why
The wiki's stat table has not changed since v19.01 (2021). Epic's v42.30 notes list the Dual Fiend Hunters as returning with no balance change, so we use it. The wiki gives damage per shot and 4 shots a second; our maths treats each listed shot as one hit.
- Damage by distance: no falloff figures in the wiki entry, so there is no chart.
- Spread, recoil and aim-down-sights time: no source we can cite.

Are the Dual Fiend Hunters in Fortnite right now?
Yes. Epic brought them back in the Fortnitemares 2026 update (v42.30) on 1 October 2026. Fortnitemares runs until 1 November, so they may leave after that.
How much damage do the Dual Fiend Hunters do?
28, 29, 31, 33 and 34 per shot from Common to Legendary at 4 shots a second, with a 2× headshot multiplier, per the Fortnite Wiki. They deal double damage to Cube Monsters.
Are the Dual Fiend Hunters good against builds?
No. They deal only 5–6 structure damage per shot, so you need another weapon to break walls in Build mode.
