How Much Do Fortnite Skins Cost? V-Bucks Prices After the March 2026 Change

Filed Sep 2, 2026
Midas — the gold-touch Legendary outfit from Chapter 2 Season 2

A Fortnite skin costs between 800 and 2,000 V-Bucks at the historic tier prices, and since 18 March 2026 a V-Buck costs more than it did: the dollar prices of Epic's bundles stayed the same while the packs shrank, so $8.99 now buys 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000. This guide gives the bundle table as it stands on 9 September 2026, works the real-money cost of an outfit at each tier, compares the Battle Pass and Fortnite Crew as ways to get V-Bucks, and covers the one legitimate way to pay less — gift cards from resellers, which we link with disclosure.

The V-Bucks bundles since 18 March 2026

Epic changed the V-Bucks bundles on 18 March 2026, the last day of Chapter 7 Season 1, by keeping every price and cutting every pack. Epic's own statement, as quoted by the outlets that covered it, was that "the cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot, and we're raising prices to help pay the bills." The table below is the US pricing as verified on 9 September 2026; the two largest packs are confirmed by a single detailed report, so treat those rows as one-source.

V-Bucks bundles, US, before and after 18 March 2026
#BundleV-Bucks beforeV-Bucks afterPer 100 V-Bucks now
1$8.991,000800$1.12
2$22.992,8002,400$0.96
3$36.995,0004,500$0.82
4$89.9913,50012,500$0.72

The cut is steepest at the bottom: the $8.99 pack lost 20 percent, the $22.99 pack 14 percent, the $36.99 pack 10 percent and the $89.99 pack 7 percent. Anyone who buys one small pack at a time — most players — took the biggest increase.

What a skin costs in dollars, by tier

At the historic tier prices, an Uncommon outfit (800 V-Bucks) is exactly one $8.99 pack; a Rare (1,200) needs two small packs ($17.98) with 400 V-Bucks left over, or half of the $22.99 pack pro-rata ($11.50); an Epic (1,500) is two small packs ($17.98, 100 left) or $14.37 pro-rata from the $22.99 pack; and a Legendary (2,000) is three small packs ($26.97) or $19.16 pro-rata from the mid pack. From the $89.99 pack every tier is cheapest — an Epic works out at $10.80 — but only if you were going to spend 12,500 V-Bucks anyway.

Those tier prices are the observed shop norm from 2018 to April 2024, when Epic removed rarity tags in v29.20, and the shop has priced outfits individually since. Many still land on the old numbers, and the rarity tiers guide explains where each tier came from, but always read the listing. The full Fortnite skins catalog files every outfit under the tier it launched at, which is the best available guide to what a returning outfit will cost.

Battle Pass and Fortnite Crew as V-Bucks sources

The Battle Pass costs 800 V-Bucks since 18 March 2026 — down from 1,000 — and a completed pass returns 800 V-Bucks, so a player who finishes it every season pays for the first one and never again. What was lost in March is the 500 bonus V-Bucks the pass used to pay out from its bonus rewards; before the change a finished pass returned 1,500, leaving 500 towards a shop outfit, and now it returns exactly its own cost. The OG, LEGO and Music passes each dropped 200 V-Bucks in price at the same time. The Battle Pass guide covers what the passes contain.

Fortnite Crew is $11.99 a month and includes 800 V-Bucks (it was 1,000 until mid-2026; reports date the cut to 6 June), the Battle Pass, the OG, LEGO and Music passes, Rocket League's premium pass and that month's Crew outfit. Priced against the $8.99 pack, the 800 V-Bucks alone are worth $8.99, which makes the passes and the outfit cost $3 a month if you would have bought the V-Bucks anyway. The Crew skins guide lists every Crew outfit and judges whether the subscription earns its price.

V-Bucks gift cards: where the price actually moves

Gift cards are the only lever on the price of V-Bucks, because Epic's bundles are fixed and outfits cannot be bought outside the game. Resellers sell Epic-issued V-Bucks cards, in fixed denominations, at prices that float — usually a few percent under list, sometimes above it during shortages — and the card is redeemed in-game like any other. Two rules before buying: match the card's region to your Epic account's region, because cards are region-locked, and check the platform, because some older cards were console-specific. We do not print reseller prices on this site; they change daily and a stale price is worse than none.

The resellers below are affiliate links. We may earn a small commission if you buy a card through them, disclosed here and on every page that links them; it never changes what is catalogued. Each sells V-Bucks cards in the standard denominations; none sells outfits, accounts or anything else on this site's exclusion list.

Eneba

Eneba is a Lithuanian-based marketplace that lists V-Bucks cards from multiple sellers, which is why its price for the same card varies by seller and by day. Filter by region before comparing, and prefer sellers with long histories. Eneba also stocks the cards for most other games' currencies, which matters if you buy across titles.

CDKeys

CDKeys is a UK-based single-seller store — one price per card, no seller marketplace — with a straightforward region filter and instant delivery. For a first V-Bucks card purchase it is the simplest of the three to get right. CDKeys tends to be the reference price the other two float around.

Kinguin

Kinguin is a Polish marketplace of the Eneba type, with multiple sellers per card and a buyer-protection program on top. Prices are often the lowest of the three, with the same discipline needed on seller ratings and region. Kinguin is worth the extra minute of checking when you are buying the larger denominations.

Support-A-Creator: the free way to direct 5 percent

If you enter a creator code in the Item Shop, Epic pays that creator about five percent of the V-Bucks you spend — widely reported as $5 per 10,000 V-Bucks — at no cost to you. Codes are entered in the shop, not through links, and reports disagree on whether a code lapses after fourteen days or persists until you change it, so re-enter one if your shop screen no longer shows it. OutfitAtlas will show its own code in the footer once accepted to the program; until then, pick any creator you watch.

Frequently asked questions

How much is 1,000 V-Bucks?

There is no 1,000 pack anymore. Since 18 March 2026 the $8.99 pack holds 800 V-Bucks; 1,000 V-Bucks costs about $11.24 pro-rata, or $8.99 plus a second pack in practice.

How much does a Fortnite skin cost in real money?

At the historic tier prices, $8.99 for an Uncommon (800 V-Bucks), $17.98 for a Rare or Epic bought with small packs, and $26.97 for a Legendary (2,000). Pro-rata from the $22.99 pack an Epic is about $14.37.

Is Fortnite Crew cheaper than buying V-Bucks?

Per V-Buck, roughly equal: $11.99 buys 800 V-Bucks plus all the passes and a Crew outfit, against $8.99 for 800 V-Bucks alone. If you would buy the Battle Pass anyway, Crew's extras cost about $3 a month.

Can you buy Fortnite skins directly?

Only in the in-game Item Shop with V-Bucks, or as part of a pass, Crew or promotion. Outfits cannot be traded or sold; anything sold as a specific skin outside the game is an account, which breaches Epic's terms.

Are V-Bucks gift cards cheaper than Epic's bundles?

Usually a little, because reseller prices float below list price on most days, but they change daily and are region-locked. Check region and platform, and compare against $1.12 per 100 V-Bucks for the small pack.
